The former governor and past president of the Nigerian Bar Association passed away on December 27th last year, after a prolonged battle with illness.
The State chapter fondly remembered some of the significant decisions of the man known as Aketi, including the establishment of the Amotekun security network to protect residents from invaders and his vigorous push for the industrialization of the State.
While the Akure flyover bridge is still under construction with the commitment of Governor Lucky Ayedatiwa, the completed interchange in Ore on the busy Benin-Sagamu Road has significantly reduced accidents in that area and ensured smooth traffic flow.
Arakunrin also received credit for the first dualized road in Akoko land and the removal of Oke Alabojuto, which had previously caused numerous costly accidents.
He led an administration that managed to clear many months of unpaid salaries and other liabilities without issue, breaking the cycle of unemployment in State Government agencies and departments.
The contributions of the late governor in sectors such as Health, Education, and road construction and repair cannot be overstated.
Additionally, Akeredolu served as Chairman of the South West Governors’ Forum and was a vocal advocate for justice, fair play, and true democracy.
The State chapter, which Akeredolu led with integrity, joins thousands of his admirers, political followers, and well-wishers in celebrating him and praying that the iconic leader continues to enjoy God’s mercy and goodness.
