Prince Eniola Joseph Ojajuni, the National President of the Afenifere National Youths Council, has been kidnapped in Abuja, with his abductors demanding a ₦100 million ransom for his release. The incident, which took place on February 17, 2025, has raised fresh concerns about the growing insecurity in Nigeria.

According to reports, Ojajuni was attacked by gunmen in Abuja. During the abduction, he was shot twice and forcibly taken away by the assailants. It remains unclear whether he received immediate medical attention for his injuries.

Eyewitnesses report that the kidnappers ambushed him and opened fire before dragging him into a vehicle. The attack has sparked fear and outrage among political and youth groups, particularly within the Afenifere organization, a prominent Yoruba socio-political group.

Shortly after the abduction, the kidnappers contacted his family and demanded a ransom of ₦100 million. They have not provided any further conditions or deadlines for the payment.

The Afenifere National Youths Council has condemned the attack and called on the Nigerian government and security agencies to act swiftly to ensure Ojajuni’s safe and immediate release.

The group emphasized that this attack reflects the worsening security crisis in Nigeria, where kidnappings for ransom have become a frequent occurrence.

Afenifere leaders have urged President Bola Tinubu’s administration and the Inspector General of Police to take decisive action against criminal gangs operating across the country.

This incident adds to the increasing cases of kidnappings, banditry, and attacks across Nigeria. Abuja, despite being the country’s capital, has seen a rise in violent crimes, including abductions.

Security experts have called for better intelligence gathering, stronger law enforcement measures, and improved community policing to curb the rising wave of kidnappings.

As of now, there has been no official response from the police or security agencies regarding efforts to locate and rescue Prince Ojajuni. Meanwhile, his family, friends, and associates remain in distress, hoping for his safe return.
