In line with his campaign promise, Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the reconstruction, rehabilitation, and asphalt overlay of more than 50 township roads across the state’s 18 local government areas. This initiative, part of the “OUR EASE” agenda, marks a significant step toward enhancing road infrastructure in the state.
Speaking on the development, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Infrastructure, Pastor Ayoade Babalola, emphasized that these projects aim to strengthen the transportation network, boost economic growth, and improve residents’ quality of life. He noted that road infrastructure investments, including the already awarded 60km road projects since August 2024, reflect the governor’s commitment to the state’s development.
The approved road projects span all regions, with contractors mobilized to commence work immediately. Additionally, the 2025 budget allocates N433 billion (62.06% of total expenditure) to capital projects, highlighting the administration’s focus on infrastructural growth.
Highlights of the Road Projects Include:
Akoko Region: Rehabilitation of Olokun Street, Iwaro-Ayegunle Road, and Isua Akoko-Epinmi Road.
Owo/Ose: Work on Kajola Lane, Aralepo Road, and Sunshine Estate Roads.
Akure: Patching and drainage repairs on Kajola-Davog Road and Owe Akala–Oke Aro Road.
Ondo Town: Construction on Ayeyemi Road and Valentino Road.
Okitipupa: Development of Ade Adeyemi Street, Okeraye Road, and Erinje Township Road.
Ilaje: Ministry of Niger Delta Road, Sola Ebiseni Road, and Palace Road, Igbokoda.
Work has already begun in key locations, involving scarification, drainage construction, and earthworks. These projects, combined with ongoing infrastructure upgrades from the previous administration, aim to position Ondo State as an infrastructural hub in the region.
Further road rehabilitation proposals for Ese-Odo, Ondo East, and Ileoluji/Okeigbo are under review for approval. Governor Aiyedatiwa’s efforts underscore a vision of development and improved connectivity for all citizens
