The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has hosted frontline troops of Operation Hadarin Daji to a special Eid-el-Kabir luncheon in Sokoto, as part of efforts to boost morale and foster unity among personnel.
The luncheon, organized for troops under Sector 3 (Fansan Yamma), provided a festive atmosphere for soldiers deployed in the North West and actively engaged in counter-insurgency operations.
Represented by the Commander of the Nigerian Army Cyber Warfare Command, Major General Adeleke Ayannuga, the Army Chief praised the gallant efforts of the troops in confronting terrorism and restoring peace in the region.
“You have displayed courage, resilience, and patriotism in the face of daunting challenges,” Oluyede said. “Your sacrifices are acknowledged not only by the Nigerian Army but also by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Nigerian people.”
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of its personnel, noting that improved welfare and support systems remain a top priority under his leadership.
Major General Ayannuga, conveying President Tinubu’s commendation, described the President as a staunch supporter of the Armed Forces and a worthy Commander-in-Chief.
He also lauded the troops for their determination in restoring normalcy to conflict-affected communities, which has enabled displaced persons to return and resume their livelihoods.
He urged the soldiers to remain united, vigilant, and committed to their mission, while paying tribute to fallen comrades.
“Our fallen heroes will never be forgotten. Let their courage inspire us to stay the course,” he stated.
As part of the day’s activities, the COAS also visited wounded soldiers receiving treatment at the Army Hospital, encouraging them to remain hopeful and assuring them that their sacrifices would never be in vain.
