In a recent assault, Boko Haram terrorists attacked a Nigerian Army base in Isige town, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State, resulting in the deaths of three soldiers and the theft of two gun trucks.
The insurgents launched the attack last Sunday, engaging military personnel for several hours. During the assault, they set multiple buildings ablaze and seized military equipment, including the gun trucks.
This incident underscores the ongoing security challenges in Nigeria’s northeastern region, where Boko Haram and its offshoot, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), continue to target military and civilian establishments. Despite efforts by the Nigerian military to curb their activities, these groups remain capable of executing coordinated and deadly attacks.
The Nigerian Army has yet to issue an official statement regarding the Isige attack. However, sources indicate that operations are underway to track down the perpetrators and recover the stolen military assets.
This attack is part of a series of assaults by insurgent groups in the region. In a separate incident last month, at least six soldiers and 34 extremists were killed in a clash in Borno State, highlighting the persistent threat posed by these groups.
