The Nigerian government has recovered $52.88 million in assets tied to former Petroleum Minister Diezani Alison-Madueke. According to Minister of Justice Lateef Fagbemi, the funds will be channeled into key development projects.

Of the recovered sum, $50 million will be deployed through the World Bank to support rural electrification projects, while $2.88 million will be allocated to the International Institute of Justice to strengthen the justice system and combat corruption.

Fagbemi described the recovery as a major milestone in the collaboration between Nigeria and the United States to fight corruption and uphold the rule of law. He also emphasized that the return of these assets reflects President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to addressing corruption and fostering accountability.
