Tension gripped the Ondo State capital, Akure, following a reported attack by suspected kidnappers on a government health facility in Oke Ijebu in the early hours of today.
According to reports, the assailants struck at about 2:00 a.m., storming the Government Health Centre located near Mega School. A patient at the facility disclosed that the attackers arrived in a large bus, forcefully gained entry into the premises, and abducted all staff on duty.
No fewer than six health workers, including some interns, were reportedly taken. The gunmen allegedly bundled the victims into the bus and fled to an unknown destination.
As of the time of this report, security agencies are yet to issue an official statement regarding the incident.
Meanwhile, residents of the area remain in shock, with growing calls for swift security intervention and the safe rescue of the abducted health personnel.
