The Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BSEMA) has taken a significant step toward improving its operations by partnering with the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company Plc and the Benue State Bureau of Homeland Security. The collaboration was formalized on Monday through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) at BSEMA’s headquarters in Makurdi.
This partnership, announced by the agency’s Executive Secretary, Sir James Iorpuu, aims to integrate innovative and technology-driven solutions into BSEMA’s emergency response systems. Addressing attendees at the ceremony, Sir Iorpuu emphasized the need for modern approaches to tackle the challenges faced by Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and other vulnerable groups across the state.
“This partnership marks a new era, introducing fresh, innovative, and technology-driven solutions for effective and efficient emergency response,” Sir Iorpuu said. He expressed confidence that this initiative would enhance BSEMA’s capacity to deliver humanitarian services while ensuring continuity of these efforts for future administrations.
The agreement builds on previous partnerships, including one with a teaching hospital to improve healthcare delivery for IDPs. Sir Iorpuu acknowledged the overwhelming support from foreign partners, commending their contributions to the state’s humanitarian efforts.
He also appreciated the Benue Digital Infrastructure Company and the Bureau of Homeland Security for their commitment to improving emergency management. Additionally, he praised Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for his visionary leadership, which has been instrumental in driving innovative solutions to address the state’s pressing challenges.
This collaboration reflects BSEMA’s ongoing efforts to align its operations with global standards, enhancing its ability to serve both displaced persons and the general population in Benue State.
