CLOSURE OF MARKETS AND SHOPS FOR THE 2025 ANNUAL AHEREGBE FESTIVAL

The Palace of His Majesty, the Deji and Paramount Ruler of Akure Kingdom, wishes to inform all residents of Akure and its environs that, in observance of the age-long tradition of the Annual Aheregbe Festival, all markets, stalls, and shops within Akure will remain closed on Thursday, 14th August 2025.

1.No trading activities—including the opening of markets, stalls, or shops—will be permitted in any form during the festival.

2. All residents, traders, and shop owners are kindly urged to strictly comply with this directive in honour of our cultural heritage.

3. In recognition of the importance of healthcare, only pharmacies and patent medicine stores are exempted from this closure.

4. The festival will not restrict human or vehicular movement, and normal transit activities may continue.We appreciate the cooperation of all in preserving and respecting this cherished tradition.
