In a violent confrontation, commercial motorcyclists stormed a police station in Oka-Akoko, Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State, accusing the police of shielding a driver involved in a reckless driving incident that damaged a motorcyclistā€™s bike.

Reports indicate that the aggrieved motorcyclists not only assaulted officers on duty but also confiscated the mobile phone of a senior police official during the altercation.

A senior police officer explained that the trouble began after the police responded to a fatal accident on Epinmi Road, transporting victims to the hospital. Shortly after, a crowd of motorcyclists arrived at the station, demanding access to the driver involved in the crash.

ā€œWe were addressing the situation when the motorcyclists, numbering about 100, began attacking officers with sticks and seized a phone. Despite efforts to manage the chaos, the situation escalated,ā€ the officer said.

Two of the attackers have since been apprehended, according to another senior officer.
