President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of key political figures, including Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, Duerimini Isa Kekemeke, Magnus Abe, and Tokunbo Afikuyomi, as chairpersons of various boards and parastatals.
The announcement was made on Friday by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, who described the appointments as part of the president’s efforts to enhance governance and strengthen institutions across the nation.
Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State and the current National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), was named the chairman of a strategic government agency, alongside other appointees with significant political and administrative experience.
Duerimini Isa Kekemeke, former APC National Vice Chairman (South-South), and Senator Magnus Abe, a former lawmaker and governorship candidate, were also given key roles. Tokunbo Afikuyomi, a seasoned politician, and others were selected to lead critical agencies to ensure effective service delivery and development.
According to the SGF, the appointments reflect the president’s resolve to bring seasoned professionals and experienced politicians into governance to drive his Renewed Hope agenda.
“The president has carefully chosen individuals with proven track records and a deep commitment to national development to head these boards. These appointments are crucial to achieving the administration’s goals of economic growth, infrastructure development, and improved service delivery,” Akume said.
Political analysts believe the appointments underscore Tinubu’s strategy of balancing political interests while ensuring competent leadership in key sectors.
The appointees are expected to resume their respective roles immediately and will be tasked with overseeing policy formulation, implementation, and supervision within their agencies.
