Ondo State Governor, Dr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has commended former governor Dr. Olusegun Mimiko for his distinguished service and enduring legacy during a special event marking his 70th birthday.

Speaking at the Special Divine Agenda Praise Evening held at the Dome in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa described Dr. Mimiko as a trailblazer whose governance transformed Ondo State.



“Dr. Mimiko is a leader who impacted lives through human-centred projects and policies. His legacy of service and dedication is deserving of celebration. This recognition reflects the deep affection and respect people have for him,” the governor remarked.

He highlighted Dr. Mimiko’s contributions to infrastructure, healthcare, education, and social programmes, emphasizing their inspiration for current and future administrations. “His efforts will remain etched in our hearts, and it is our duty to build on the foundation he laid,” Aiyedatiwa added.


In his response, Dr. Mimiko expressed profound gratitude for the love and recognition shown by the people of Ondo State. Reflecting on his public service journey, he stated, “It is humbling to be celebrated this way. I am thankful to God, my family, and the people who supported my vision during my tenure. This motivates me to keep contributing to our state’s development.”

Mrs. Oluwakemi Mimiko, the celebrant’s wife, praised her husband’s visionary leadership and urged others to emulate his values. “His humility and compassion are qualities we must nurture in society to inspire future leaders,” she said.
