In response to growing public discussions and concerns surrounding Nigeria’s recently signed tax reform laws, the House of Representatives has released the Certified True Copies (CTCs) of the four Acts to ensure clarity, trust, and public confidence.
The move, directed by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, reflects the resolve of the National Assembly to keep Nigerians fully informed and to dispel any doubts arising from the circulation of conflicting and unauthorised documents.
Speaker Abbas acted swiftly after discrepancies were brought to the attention of the House, ordering immediate verification and public disclosure of the authentic versions as signed into law by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. This step underscores the House’s belief that transparency is not optional, but essential to democratic governance.
The Acts released are:
- The Nigeria Tax Act, 2025
- The Nigeria Tax Administration Act, 2025
- The National Revenue Service (Establishment) Act, 2025
- The Joint Revenue Board (Establishment) Act, 2025
The Speaker reassured Nigerians that the National Assembly operates on clear records and procedures, stressing that only laws duly passed, certified, and released by the legislature should be relied upon.
To further ensure accuracy and uniformity, the Clerk to the National Assembly has completed arrangements with the Federal Government Printing Press, while hard copies of the certified laws are being made available to lawmakers and the public.
Meanwhile, an Ad-Hoc Committee chaired by Rt. Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara, OON, continues its work to identify how unauthorised versions entered public space and to recommend safeguards against future occurrences.
