The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has described the current phase of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) as a “Golden Era,” attributing this progress to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Air Marshal Abubakar made this statement during the official reception of 14 advanced aircraft at the NAF Headquarters. This delivery marks a significant milestone in the ongoing modernization of the Air Force.
He disclosed that the new aircraft are part of a larger plan to acquire 64 advanced units over the next three years. The announcement was made by the Director of Public Relations and Information at NAF Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Olusola Akinboyewa, on January 9, 2025, highlighting the government’s commitment to enhancing national defense capabilities.
Expressing gratitude to the Ministry of Defence for its continued support, the CAS emphasized the importance of the new additions in bolstering the Air Force’s operational readiness.
Ambassador Gabriel Tanimu Aduda, the recently appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Defence, also commended the Nigerian Air Force and other security agencies for their efforts in combating insurgency and other security challenges across the country.
During his maiden visit to the NAF Headquarters, Ambassador Aduda reaffirmed the Ministry’s dedication to improving the welfare and operational capacity of the Nigerian Armed Forces. He participated in a commemorative ceremony at the HQ NAF Memorial Arcade, laying a wreath and observing a minute of silence in honor of fallen heroes.
The event underscored the importance of collaboration between the Ministry of Defence and the NAF in achieving national security objectives and strengthening the nation’s defense infrastructure.
