The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended a 27-year-old man, Afeez Ayeteru, for allegedly beheading an elderly woman, identified as Aduke, aged 80, in the Ado-Odo/Ota area of the state.

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, announced Ayeteru’s arrest while parading him alongside 24 other suspects at the state capital, Abeokuta. Ogunlowo explained that a prompt response to a distress call from a neighbor enabled the police to apprehend the suspect as he attempted to flee the scene.

In addition to Ayeteru, the police also paraded Taiwo and Kehinde Yemitan, 45-year-old twin brothers, accused of murdering a woman named Darasimi and mutilating her body for ritual purposes. The incident reportedly occurred in the Lafenwa area of Abeokuta, and the suspects have confessed to the crime during interrogation.

The Commissioner assured the public that all suspects would be prosecuted after investigations are concluded. He also disclosed that the arrests, carried out over the past three weeks, involved various crimes, including murder, kidnapping, and cultism.

Ogunlowo urged residents to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement by providing credible intelligence. He reiterated the police’s commitment to combating crime in the state, warning criminals of the force’s readiness to take decisive action.

While addressing journalists, one of the suspects, Taiwo Yemitan, confessed to the crime, claiming the victim was his acquaintance. He also admitted this was his first direct involvement in murder but revealed past dealings in the sale of human parts obtained by others.

The police have reaffirmed their resolve to ensure justice is served and pledged to maintain efforts to protect the lives and property of citizens in Ogun State.
