The Nigerian Army has launched an investigation into a viral video showing soldiers protesting the quality and quantity of their food supplies.

In a statement issued on July 24, 2025, by Lt Col Appolonia Anele, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the Army acknowledged the video’s wide circulation and public concern over troop welfare.

While the authenticity of the video is still being verified, the Army said the matter is being taken seriously. It reaffirmed its commitment to soldier welfare under the “Soldier First” policy, which prioritizes troop well-being and operational readiness.

The Army urged personnel to use official channels to voice complaints, warning that using unauthorised platforms violates military discipline.

It assured the public of continued accountability and support for its troops.
