The Nigerian Army has warned the general public against fake social media accounts impersonating the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
In a statement issued by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, the Army clarified that the COAS does not operate any personal or official social media account on any platform, stressing that any account claiming otherwise is fake and should be ignored.
According to the Army, these fraudulent accounts are being used by unscrupulous individuals to deceive unsuspecting members of the public, including soliciting money and spreading false information.
The public was advised to remain vigilant, avoid engaging with such accounts, and promptly report them, as the Nigerian Army is taking steps to identify and prosecute those behind the impersonation.
