The Ondo State Government has confirmed that no lives were lost and no church was attacked during the New Year’s Eve incident at the Ipele Police Station in Owo Local Government Area.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa said security agencies responded swiftly after the attack, preventing casualties, though the police station was damaged.
He directed intensified patrols across communities and forest areas to prevent a recurrence.
The Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Lawal, dismissed social media claims of deaths or church attacks, describing them as false. He added that investigations are ongoing and urged residents to remain calm and confident in the security agencies.
