Nasarawa United and Rivers United have been summoned by the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) to address incidents that occurred during their Matchday 18 clash at the Lafia City Stadium on 22 December 2024.
Both teams are expected to appear before the NPFL disciplinary committee in Abuja on 10 January 2025.
The league organizers have launched an inquiry aimed at uncovering the causes of the incident, ensuring accountability, and maintaining the leagueās integrity. The clubs are required to submit comprehensive reports detailing the events, security measures, and actions taken by club officials. These reports must be submitted no later than 5 January 2025.
In addition to the clubs, match officialsāreferee Musibaudeen Ibrahim, first assistant referee Ikenna Okerulu, and match commissioner Godfrey Mammanāhave been directed to appear in person. They are expected to provide detailed accounts and clarifications on their reports.
Club representatives, including individuals responsible for media statements regarding the incident, will also attend to address their remarks and offer further explanations.
The NPFL is committed to thoroughly investigating the matter and ensuring appropriate measures are taken to uphold the standards of the league.
