Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has confirmed that Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) side, Sunshine Stars, will return to their home ground in Akure for their next match.

The Owena Waves have been playing their home fixtures at the Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu-Ode due to ongoing renovations at the Akure Sports Stadium.

However, speaking at a youth forum in Akure, Governor Aiyedatiwa assured fans that the team’s next home game—against Katsina United—will take place at the Ondo State Sports Complex.

He also reiterated the state government’s commitment to ensuring Sunshine Stars retain their NPFL status.

“All hands are on deck to make sure Sunshine Stars stay in the top flight,” Aiyedatiwa stated.

Currently, the team sits 19th on the NPFL table, with 38 points from 33 matches.
