The Ondo State Council for Islamic Affairs (ODSCI) has urged the state government to empower security agencies to confiscate unlicensed arms and ammunition in Owo town.
This appeal was outlined in a letter titled “Our Heartfelt”, signed by the State Chairman, Alhaji Waidi Ademola Fadola, and shared with Weekend Hope in Akure.
The council strongly condemned the recent violent killings among cult groups and the widespread destruction in Owo, urging the government to prioritize the arrest of those responsible and deploy all available resources to restore order.
Expressing their condolences, ODSCI sympathized with the families of victims, including innocent individuals affected by the unrest.
The letter also congratulated the governor on his re-election, wishing him a successful tenure, while expressing shock over the sudden death of the former Secretary to the State Government, Temidayo Oluwatuyi. The council extended its sympathies to the governor, state officials, and the people of Ondo State, both at home and abroad.
Additionally, ODSCI recommended reinforcing border security between Ondo State and neighboring states. They also advocated for increased representation of Muslims in the administration of Governor Aiyedatiwa at all levels.
