Outcome of the Salary Meeting Between Ondo State Government and Organized Labour Held on Tuesday, August 27, 2024, at Cocoa Conference Hall, Governorās Office, Alagbaka, Akure
The meeting was chaired by the Head of Service, Comrade Bayo Phillip, with Comrade Ademola Olapade serving as co-chair. Attendees included the Accountant General and his team, Industrial Relations Officers from the Office of Establishment and Training, and various industrial union leaders and secretaries from the NLC and TUC.
Key Points Discussed:
- August 2024 Salary and Pension:
It was agreed that 100% of the August 2024 salary and pension will be paid immediately. Additionally, subventions to tertiary institutions will be processed promptly. - Wage Award and Palliative Measures:
The meeting decided that a wage award will be granted to workers, and palliative measures will be provided for pensioners and staff of state-owned tertiary institutions. - Hazard Allowance:
The government requested the State Health Workers to show patience regarding the payment of their hazard allowance. - 2024 Leave Bonus:
Approval for the 2024 leave bonus will be sought from the Governor, with payments to be made following approval. - Owena Press:
It was discussed that the current monthly allocation to Owena Press (The Hope newspaper) is insufficient for covering publication, salaries, and other expenses. The Government committed to reviewing the situation to ensure the media outfit can continue serving Ondo State effectively. - New Minimum Wage:
It was agreed that the State Government will establish a Negotiating Committee to collaborate with Labour representatives to expedite the implementation of the N70,000 minimum wage.
