The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Ondo State has condemned Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa for allegedly distributing cash to youths and clergymen to prevent protests against economic hardships. PDP Publicity Secretary, Peretei Ikandu, highlighted that nationwide “End Bad Governance” protests on August 1, 2024, led to significant casualties and property damage, with the PDP blaming President Bola Tinubu’s administration for the unrest.
In Ondo State, Aiyedatiwa reportedly used state funds to deter protests, later thanking residents for their restraint.
The PDP criticized Aiyedatiwa for failing to account for federal palliatives and monthly allocations, questioning the use of funds for personal projects.
The party urged the governor to address citizens’ grievances instead of celebrating the absence of violent protests.
