The Ministry of Transport has reacted to a misleading piece authored by A.D. Poweide, alleging that the Ondo State Government has discontinued its Free Shuttle Bus Scheme. The government has categorically dismissed this claim as false and malicious.

In a statement, the Head of Media and Publicity Unit, Oluwakemi Adedeji-Adeyemi, described the allegation as a baseless attempt to discredit the government’s commitment to public welfare. She emphasized that the scheme remains operational and continues to expand.

ā€œIt is entirely untrue and mischievous to claim that the government has stopped the scheme. This administration has not only maintained the initiative but also enhanced it by adding five additional buses to the fleet earlier this year. Plans are already underway to procure more buses as outlined in the 2025 budget presented to the House of Assembly today,ā€ Adedeji-Adeyemi stated.

She further highlighted the government’s efforts to extend the scheme beyond its original scope. Under the current administration, the program has grown from covering 12 local government areas to 17, with the inclusion of a boat shuttle service for Ilaje and Ese-Odo LGAs.

The ministry advised Mr. Poweide and others to verify information before making baseless accusations. ā€œThis administration remains committed to ensuring our children benefit from the dividends of democracy, and the Free Shuttle Bus Scheme is a testament to that commitment,ā€ Adedeji-Adeyemi affirmed.

The Ondo State Government reiterated its dedication to the welfare of its citizens and urged the public to disregard unfounded rumors.
