In the early hours of Sunday, the Oodua People’s Congress (OPC) successfully arrested six Fulani herdsmen in Osi, Akure North, who were attempting to launch a violent attack on the community.

The herdsmen, armed and ready to cause harm, were intercepted just in time by OPC members who were patrolling the area. During the arrest, some weapons were also recovered from the suspects, further solidifying the threat they posed. Their swift action prevented what could have been a devastating assault on the innocent residents of the community.

Following the arrest, the suspects were immediately taken to the Osi Police Station for further investigation. The local community has praised the OPC’s intervention, as they have long been concerned about the increasing tensions between farmers and herdsmen in the region. Many residents expressed their relief, acknowledging the critical role of local vigilantes in maintaining security in the area.

It also underscores the importance of collaboration between local vigilantes, law enforcement, and community leaders to ensure the safety and peace of the people. As investigations continue, the hope is that justice will prevail and measures will be taken to prevent further attacks on the community.
