The Ondo State Signage and Advertisement Agency (OSSAA) has begun a comprehensive statewide enforcement exercise to dismantle dilapidated signage structures and unauthorized billboards.
This initiative aligns with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa’s broader urbanization and development agenda aimed at improving public safety and enhancing the visual orderliness of the state.
During the operation, the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Signage and Advertisement, Yomi Oyekan, stated that several of the targeted structures have become hazardous due to structural weakness, poor installation practices, or lack of proper approval. He emphasized that the ongoing cleanup is crucial to preventing accidents, reducing environmental and visual clutter, and restoring sanity to public spaces.
The Agency’s Special Task Force has already commenced removal activities across major roads, commercial hubs, and other strategic areas. OSSAA reiterated its commitment to working collaboratively with advertisers, business owners, and relevant stakeholders to maintain a safe, orderly, and fully compliant outdoor advertising landscape.
Residents and business operators are urged to ensure that all signage installations undergo proper approval processes and meet established safety and regulatory standards. OSSAA remains dedicated to upholding public safety, maintaining environmental order, and supporting the state’s vision of a more organized and aesthetically pleasing urban environment.
