The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has criticized the Omoluabi Progressives, a faction led by former governor Rauf Aregbesola, for its decision to leave the party.
The Omoluabi Progressives announced their exit from the APC, citing grievances such as the suspension and expulsion of members without fair hearing and dissatisfaction with the party’s approach to resolving internal disputes. They also blamed the APC’s handling of crises for its poor performance in recent elections.
In a swift reaction, the Osun APC described the group’s decision as inconsequential, accusing them of anti-party activities. The party added that the departure of Aregbesola’s loyalists was long overdue and would not impact its unity or strength in the state.
This development has reshaped the political dynamics in Osun State, with reports indicating that Aregbesola’s faction is considering joining another platform ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
