The Lagos State Police Command has sealed the Celestial Church of Christ (CCC) Oluwa Parish in Ojo following the alleged murder of a 28-year-old Lagos State University (LASU) graduate, Adedamola Ogunbode.
According to police sources, Ogunbode, a 2024 Political Science Education graduate, was reported missing on January 16, 2025. Investigations later revealed that he may have been murdered, prompting law enforcement to take swift action.
Three suspects—Pastor Whepetoji Sunday, Sheriff Adebayo, and Omolara Ajisomo—have been arrested in connection with the case. The police are also searching for five more suspects, two of whom are believed to have fled the country.
The police sealed the church not only as a crime scene but also as a precautionary measure to prevent possible arson attacks by individuals seeking retribution.
Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Superintendent Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrests and assured the public that investigations are ongoing. “We are working diligently to recover the victim’s body and bring all culprits to justice,” he stated.
The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a more thorough probe.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police has urged the public to remain calm and allow the investigation to take its full course.
The incident has sparked outrage, with many calling for justice for Ogunbode and his family.
