Sunshine Stars Youth Team kicked off the 2024/25 N-Youth League campaign with a resounding 2-0 win over R2 Finesse FA in their match-day one encounter at the Sunshine Games Village, Akure.
The home teamās defense was solid, with Richard Christopher, Taiwo Ogunleye, Anifowose Oludare, and Isaiah Sunday providing a formidable shield for goalkeeper Francis Gabriel. Christopher scored the opening goal in the 24th minute, capitalizing on a well-delivered free kick from close range.

In the 44th minute, Christopher scored again, this time from the penalty spot, to double Sunshine Starsā lead.
The Olanrewaju Ale-led side controlled the game throughout, creating numerous scoring opportunities that were not capitalized on.

Coach Olarenwaju Ale expressed his satisfaction with the win, acknowledging that many of the players were new recruits who performed well. āWe dominated the game, which allowed us to score. Weāre trying to play the way we train, and weāll continue to work on our next away game,ā he said.
The teamās next fixture is an away match against Gateway U-19 on Tuesday, October 1, in Ijebu-Ode.ā
