The Nigerian government has officially designated Monday, September 16, 2024, as a public holiday to commemorate Eid-ul-Mawlid, the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him).
In an announcement made on behalf of the government, the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim community, both within Nigeria and globally.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the importance of adopting values such as patience, sacrifice, and resilience during this time. He also called upon the Muslim Ummah and all Nigerians to seize this opportunity to pray for peace and prosperity across the nation.
“I encourage everyone to pray for lasting peace and the development of a more prosperous and equitable country,” the Minister added.
