A tragic lightning strike in Matuak Giwa, Bondon District, Moro’a Chiefdom, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, has claimed the life of a young herder and 12 cows. The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 30, 2025.
According to the Village Head, Simon Ayuba, the herder had sought shelter from the rain alongside his cattle when the lightning struck, killing them instantly. “The herder, along with 12 cows, died on the spot. It was a heartbreaking event that has left the community in mourning,” Ayuba stated.
Mallam Tanko Isiyaka, the Ardo of Bondon District, confirmed that the deceased herder hailed from Bauchi State. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss and urged prayers and support for the bereaved family.
The incident has cast a pall over the community, highlighting the unpredictable dangers posed by natural phenomena. Local authorities and residents have extended their condolences to the family of the deceased during this difficult time.
