In a tragic turn of events in the Akoko area of Ondo State, unknown gunmen have killed two okada riders in separate incidents.
One of the victims, 28-year-old Dada Jatto from Iyani Akoko, had been missing for three days. His mutilated body and damaged phone were discovered yesterday near Arigidi along Okeagbe Road, but his motorcycle was missing.
In another incident, a motorcyclist was attacked along Leo Road in Akure, the state capital, and his motorcycle was stolen at gunpoint.
A second okada rider was lured to a hideout between Ikare and Arigidi, where his assailant used a sledgehammer to smash his head. Before he died in an undisclosed hospital, he managed to describe his assailant and the snatcher of his motorbike. Vigilant security agents later arrested the suspect with the bike at Akunu Akoko, a border town of Kogi State.

The residents of Iyani Akoko in the northwest local government area are in mourning over the untimely death of Dada Jatto, a father of two, described as a diligent and hardworking young man.
The police have yet to respond to the incidents.
