The Ogun State Government has inaugurated a three-day Christmas Fiesta to support Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and provide goods at subsidised rates.
The event, held opposite the Assembly Complex at the Governor’s Office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, commenced on Wednesday and will conclude on Friday. It is organised by the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment.
Addressing attendees on Thursday, Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Adebola Sofela, underscored the administration’s commitment to fostering small-scale businesses in Ogun State.
“Governor Abiodun is not only focused on attracting multinationals but is equally dedicated to empowering MSMEs, enabling them to access markets and showcase their products,” Sofela stated.
He praised Mrs Oluyemis Somorin-Dawodu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade, for her efforts in organising the fiesta.
The Commissioner further noted that the initiative, a first of its kind, offers free booths to small-scale entrepreneurs to display their products, aligning with the government’s vision to enhance economic activities. He added that plans are underway to extend support for MSMEs in 2024, focusing on capacity building, financial advisory services, and economic empowerment.

During a visit to the exhibition on Thursday, the Head of Service, Kehinde Onasanya, lauded the initiative as a reflection of Governor Dapo Abiodun’s commitment to empowering MSMEs. He urged civil servants and the public to patronise the booths, highlighting the availability of discounted goods.
Dr Olu Ola Aikulola, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, expressed appreciation to the Abiodun administration for its innovative initiatives that have bolstered the state’s economic growth.
Aikulola also commended the collaboration between the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment and the Ministry of Information and Strategy.
The Head of Service was accompanied by top government officials, including Mrs Somorin-Dawodu and Professor Kayode Oyedele, Special Adviser on Mineral Resources.
