Nigerian Army troops have killed Kachalla Kallamu, deputy to notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, during a coordinated operation in Sabon Birni, Sokoto State.

Kallamu and a key logistics aide were neutralised in a dawn offensive near Kurawa village, supported by local vigilantes.
Military sources say his death is a major blow to Turji’s network. Kallamu, long known for terrorising communities, had fled to Kogi after a June 2025 crackdown but recently returned to Sokoto.
State officials praised the troops for their professionalism and the growing intelligence support from locals.
