The Nigerian military has dismissed a viral video claiming terrorists overran a base in Marte, Borno State, calling it a recycled clip from 2020.

Major General Markus Kangye stated the video was spread by criminal elements to instill fear and discredit the Armed Forces. He confirmed there was an attack on May 12, 2025, but troops repelled it, killing several terrorists.

Kangye urged the public to ignore fake content and rely on official updates, warning that those spreading disinformation will be held accountable.
