The Ondo State Police Command has uncovered a suspected baby factory and human trafficking syndicate operating in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area.
The case came to light after a 17-year-old pregnant girl, trafficked from Akwa Ibom under false job promises, escaped and reported to the police. Acting on her report, officers from Ore Division and the Gender-Based Violence Unit raided the facility, rescuing five pregnant girls and a baby boy.
Preliminary investigations revealed that babies were allegedly sold for ₦400,000 and above for females and ₦600,000 and above for males. The prime suspect, Ada Clement, and her accomplices have been arrested, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing members.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Adebowale Lawal, has ordered a thorough investigation and assured the public of the Command’s commitment to combating human trafficking, baby factories, and child exploitation across the state.
