The sons and daughters of Akure came together on Saturday to celebrate the Ulefunta festival, one of the most revered festivals in Yorubaland, showcasing the rich culture of the ancient city.

The event, held at the MKO Abiola Democracy Park in Akure, saw the Ondo State governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, emphasizing the significance of cultural identity in driving economic growth and social unity in the state.

Leading up to the festival, the Deji of Akure, Oba(Dr) Aladeetoyinbo Ogunlade Aladelusi, observed a seven-day seclusion as per tradition, communing with ancestors and praying for his people before returning to the palace.

During the grand finale at the M.K.O Democracy Park, Governor Aiyedatiwa praised the festival as a symbol of tradition, faith, resilience, and diversity. He reiterated his administration’s commitment to preserving Akure’s cultural heritage.
