Prince Adenekan Olateru Olagbegi has urged party leaders and stakeholders in Owo to remain calm and avoid unnecessary tension, emphasizing unity and respect within the fold.
According to the Prince, Mrs. Omowunmi Isaac remains a true daughter of Owo whose identity, loyalty, and contributions to the community cannot be questioned. He stressed that political differences should never erase one’s roots or diminish their connection to their people.
Drawing from history, Prince Olagbegi reminded leaders that Owo has witnessed a similar turbulent moment in the past — a titanic political battle between his father, Sir Olateru Olagbegi, and his close ally, Baba Adekunle Ajasin. What began as a disagreement escalated due to the failure of elders at the time to promptly intervene, ultimately bringing Owo to its knees.
He warned that such a painful chapter must not be repeated, urging leaders to learn from history and act with wisdom.
He further noted that Hon. Omowunmi Isaac, as the current custodian of Ondo State’s finance and treasury, represents a strategic advantage for Owo. Rather than engaging in public disputes, he advised stakeholders to leverage her position to attract meaningful development to the community.
“Now is the time to lobby for progress, not to wash our dirty linen in public,” he emphasized.
Prince Olagbegi therefore appealed, in the interest of peace, to all aggrieved political leaders and Hon. Omowunmi Isaac to allow respected elders in Owo to mediate and resolve all lingering differences.
He concluded by calling for unity of purpose, urging all stakeholders to consolidate their energy towards the growth and development of Owo, rather than engaging in divisive conflicts that could hinder progress.
