Fresh political signals emerging from Ifedore Local Government suggest that the internal structure of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State may already be taking shape ahead of the 2027 political cycle, following a major alignment move by frontline House of Assembly aspirant, Wale Adefila, popularly known as Bibire.
In what many party insiders are describing as a strategic consolidation meeting, Adefila on Thursday openly threw his weight behind the consensus direction reportedly championed by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, declaring that party unity and loyalty to leadership must override personal ambition.
The high-level political gathering, held in Ifedore, brought together Bibire’s coordinators across all the 10 wards of the local government alongside influential APC stakeholders and grassroots mobilizers.
Among top figures present at the meeting were Ifedore APC Chairman, Prince Tunde Adegbonmire; former Special Assistant to the Governor, Barr. Asani Bakare; Alhaji Segun Amuda; Secretary of Ijare LCDA, Hon. Oni Olorunwa; Hon. Gbadamosi Yakubu of Ilara Ward 2, as well as several ward executives and party leaders.
Observers say the atmosphere at the meeting reflected more than a routine political consultation, as it carried strong undertones of strategic positioning ahead of the APC primaries.
Addressing his supporters, Adefila reportedly emphasized that no individual interest should be allowed to destabilize the ruling party, insisting that preserving APC’s dominance in Ondo State requires discipline, sacrifice and collective responsibility from all loyal members.
The Ifedore politician also assured leaders that his political structure across the constituency would respect and align with any consensus arrangement agreed upon by the party leadership.
Political analysts believe the development could reshape calculations within the APC in Ifedore, especially considering Bibire’s growing influence among grassroots mobilizers, youth supporters and ward coordinators across the constituency.
However, beyond endorsing the consensus process, Adefila also appeared to send a carefully-worded message to the APC hierarchy, urging the leadership not to abandon loyal aspirants who may eventually sacrifice their ambitions for party stability.
He stressed that commitment and loyalty to the party should be rewarded through inclusion, political appointments and active participation in governance.
With consultations and underground negotiations intensifying across Ondo APC camps ahead of the primaries, Thursday’s alignment meeting is already being interpreted in some quarters as one of the clearest signs yet that the governor’s political structure is gradually tightening its grip across the state.
