Prominent figures, including Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, have expressed their grief over the passing of the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mr. Tayo Oluwatuyi, popularly known as Tuykana. Oluwatuyi succumbed to injuries sustained in a fatal motor accident on Saturday while receiving treatment in a hospital.

Following the news, sympathizers in their hundreds gathered at his Akure residence to pay their respects. Among the mourners were political associates, top government officials, and community members who extolled his virtues and described his death as a great loss.

Governor Aiyedatiwa, visibly moved, led members of the State Executive Council to visit the late SSG’s family. The governor praised Oluwatuyi’s legacy, noting his significant contributions to the state’s political landscape and governance. He described him as a complete gentleman who conducted his life with humility and integrity.

The governor also spoke with the deceased’s children abroad, offering his condolences and pledging government support to the family during this challenging period. In a condolence message, Aiyedatiwa wrote, “Hon. Tayo Oluwatuyi, you came, you lived, you performed your God-given tasks, and impacted lives. May you find rest in the bosom of your Creator.”

In tribute, the state government declared a three-day mourning period, including prayers for the repose of Oluwatuyi’s soul. Special Adviser Pastor Ayoade Babalola led a prayer session for the family, Akure community, and the state.

Prominent leaders, including APC chieftain Dr. Olumuyiwa Adu (Adu Cubana), PDP leader Balogun Eyitayo Jegede, and Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly Olamide Oladiji, also expressed condolences.
