President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has set an ambitious target to lower Nigeriaā€™s inflation rate from 34.6% to 15% by the end of 2025. In his New Year message to the nation, the president outlined strategies aimed at easing economic hardships and fostering growth.

Tinubu acknowledged the economic struggles of 2024, marked by rising prices of food and essential medications. He pledged that his administration would intensify efforts to boost food production and support local manufacturing of medical supplies.

Highlighting positive economic trends, the president noted the strengthening of the Naira, consecutive foreign trade surpluses, and a record-breaking performance in the stock market, which generated trillions of naira in wealth. He also announced the impending launch of the National Credit Guarantee Company, a program designed to expand credit access for individuals, women, and youth, with operations expected to begin before mid-2025.

Beyond economic measures, Tinubu emphasized the importance of national unity and shared values. He revealed plans to introduce a National Values Charter in the first quarter of 2025, aimed at fostering trust and cooperation between the government and citizens.

The president also reiterated his administrationā€™s commitment to youth inclusion. He announced a Youth Confab scheduled for early 2025, which will engage young Nigerians in shaping national policies and development.

Tinubu urged state and local governments to collaborate with the federal government to harness opportunities in agriculture, renewable energy, and tax reforms. He praised states that have embraced innovations like Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) and electric vehicles in public transportation systems.

As the country enters 2025, the president expressed optimism about Nigeriaā€™s future, calling for resilience and collective action.

ā€œYour sacrifices over the past 19 months have not been in vain. Together, we will build a prosperous and united Nigeria,ā€ Tinubu concluded.
