The Elerewe elders and chiefs of Igboroko, Owo, led by High Chief Idowu Olakunori, the Elerewe of Igboroko, on Sunday, September 27, 2026, declared their support for the senatorial aspiration of Prince Adenekan Olateru-Olagbegi and called on the people of Owo to rally behind him.
The declaration was made during a gathering in Owo, where High Chief Olakunori and the Elerewe leadership formally identified with Prince Adenekan’s aspiration to represent the Ondo North Senatorial District in the Senate.
High Chief Olakunori prayed for the success of Prince Adenekan, asking God to guide him, grant him wisdom and strength, and give him the grace to succeed in his quest to serve the people.
The Elerewe leader also called on the various Elerewe quarters and communities across Igboroko, Owo, to unite behind the aspiration, stressing the importance of collective action and a common voice.
“OWO MUST COME TOGETHER”
High Chief Olakunori emphasised that Owo has a long-standing interest in having the Senate representation return to the town, noting that the people have waited for about 20 years for such an opportunity.
He therefore urged leaders, elders, youths and stakeholders across the various quarters of Owo to put aside differences and rally around Prince Adenekan Olateru-Olagbegi.
According to him, the aspiration should be seen beyond an individual political ambition, but as an opportunity for Owo to speak with one voice and collectively pursue its interests in the political affairs of Ondo North.
The Elerewe elders further urged the people of Owo to strengthen grassroots mobilisation across the quarters and communities, stressing that unity would be crucial to achieving their collective aspiration.
The Sunday gathering also provided an opportunity for Prince Adenekan Olateru-Olagbegi to interact with community stakeholders and supporters as his 2027 senatorial campaign continues to generate discussions across Ondo North.
The adoption and prayers by the Elerewe leadership, according to the organisers, represent a significant show of community support for the aspiration and a renewed call for Owo to unite around the quest to return the Senate representation to the town.
